9 Things Every Sourdough Baker Needs for Christmas

Finding the perfect gift for a sourdough baker can be hard, especially if you don’t know what to look for! Here’s a roundup of some of my favorite items for sourdough baking.

1. Dutch Oven

2. Quality Bread Knife

A high-quality Dutch oven is essential for baking real sourdough bread. Look for one that can handle high temperatures and retains heat well. (They’re also amazing multi purpose pots to have in your kitchen!)

A good bread knife makes all the difference, especially with artisan sourdough breads! This one works amazingly and is a great multi-purpose tool to have in your kitchen drawer.

3. Cute Starter Jars

Can you technically put your sourdough starter in anything? Yes. Does that mean you shouldn’t have a cute container to keep it in? Of course not. These Weck jars are practical for storing your sourdough starter and look so cute in the kitchen!

4. Banneton Proofing Baskets

5. Kitchen Scale

Bannetons are used to help shape and proof dough. Gift a beautifully crafted rattan banneton for that authentic artisan look and feel.

6. Baking Gloves

Precision is key in baking. A digital kitchen scale ensures accurate measurements, especially for ingredients like flour and water, which are crucial for sourdough success!

7. Cotton and Linen Apron

Oven mitts don’t always do the trick, especially with hot bread coming out of the oven! These baking gloves are a game changer.

Aprons are always well-loved by bakers, and this cotton and linen cross back apron is one of my favorites!

8. Bread Bags

Quality bread bags are a great way to store sourdough bread without holding in moisture like other methods can. Plus, they’re cute and made with linen and cotton!

9. Sourdough Bookbooks

A specialized sourdough cookbook is so helpful for inspiration, experimenting with new recipes and refining your skills! This is one of my favorites that I use often.
